Choir
St. Spyridon Music Ministry offers an Adult Choir, Young Adult Choir (ages 13-18) and Youth
Choir (ages 8-18).
The mission of a Greek Orthodox Church choir is to come before God’s presence in liturgical
worship, singing to the Lord with praise and thanksgiving.
The purpose of the Music Ministry is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through song,
encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship and provide an
avenue through which individuals may share their gift and be an integral part of the worship.
The choirs are a member of the National Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians and the
Church Music Ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco.
The choir strives to reach both the old and new generations of parishioners with spiritually
uplifting music. Orthodox hymns are sung in both English and Greek and knowledge of Greek
is not required. English phonetics are provided for all music sung in Greek. Rehearsals are
scheduled and we work to accommodate the busy schedules of most participants.
Rehearsals for the adult choir are on Thursdays at 7:00pm.
Our youth meet on Sundays from 12:15pm-1:30pm.
No singing experience is required to join the choir. All you need is that you love to sing. That is
enough motivation to gradually get better and learn to enjoy your voice to its full potential.
