Women of the Word
The Women of the Word Bible Study group is focused on building up the Body of Christ by providing a time and place for women in our parish who want to grow in their faith and spiritual lives.
We meet weekly from September to April in an informal setting on the church site. At this time we read selected Scripture and related resources together and discuss how this guides us in our daily walk as Orthodox Christians. We describe ourselves as “women gathered in love around the Word of God sharing Holy Scripture and supporting one another to become better ‘doers of the Word and not hearers only.’” (James 1:23)
Our ministry is built on the talents and skills of women:
- who come from a wide variety of backgrounds – those who were born into the faith, converts, and women considering or in the process of joining our Church
- who have a personal desire to make reading Holy Scripture a regular part of their spiritual practice and relationship with God
- who want to deepen their faith and spiritual lives through connecting with other women around reading and sharing the Word
- who want to understand better our Orthodox beliefs, traditions, services, and prayers
Our goal is that individually and as a group our yearly study will support the spiritual growth of each of our participants as well as impact how we interact with others in our Church community and in our broader daily lives.
We conduct an annual Sign Up period and Opportunity Drawing each summer when we announce our new study. However, women are welcome to join us at any time of the year.
